Biodynamic craniosacral therapy

In 1900, as he was examining cranial bones, a young osteopath named W.G. Sutherland realized that the shape of these bones was designed for respiratory movement. He would spend the next 50 years of his life studying respiratory motion in the head and throughout the rest of the body. He discovered that the vital force behind the system came from cerebro-spinal fluid. We now know that cerebro-spinal fluid plays a critically important role in supplying the central nervous system.

This respiratory mechanism may be impeded by physical or emotional traumas, thereby restricting the supply of the central nervous system and upsetting the balance of the system as a whole. Some typical symptoms are: migraines, visual disturbances, tinnitus, asthma, back problems, chronic tiredness, sinusitis and psychological disorders. Biodynamic craniosacral therapy is so gentle that it is suitable for people of all ages as well as those in fragile or acutely painful conditions.

Thanks to a highly skilled sense of touch and a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology, therapists can feel, influence and facilitate the body’s inner structures, patterns and movements. This enables them to detect the precise state of a person’s health, perceptible on the inside before it reaches the outside. Without forcing any specific event to take place, therapists stimulate the body’s own self-regulating mechanisms, respecting the unique healing patterns of each patient.
